For those who want heat, I agree, go to JCWhitney.  If you want to replace
the original with something that works -- Fred Sissons coil is ok, I did a
similar replacement, used a SS cooking pot the same diameter as the Smiths
cover, about 6 inches deep.  Slotted the sides (4 4inch by 1.5 inch slots)
and wound a maleable copper tube from a dehumidifier, complete with aluminum
fins intact, into the centre.  Inside this is a standard Smiths motor with a
high efficiency squirrel cage -- MG owners know about this, so does Moss
Motors.  Plumbed this into the original heater lines.  Result is an
authentic looking heater (albiet much prettier) that works.
