Well, the reason I got the oil furnace for the garage was because it is
the old one from the house, which has been replaced with an LP 'gas'
furnace. Needless to say, it was a learning experience.

The new LP furnaces take burn air in from outside and exhaust it back
outside. The old oil furnace drew combustion air from inside the house
and exhausted it outside. The newer design:

a) doesn't use air you've gone to the trouble of heating up already
b) is MUCH more efficient (~98% vs 40-60%)
c) uses PVC as the exhaust pipe (vs steel flue pipe in the oil furnace)
d) doesn't draw cold air into the house from around every window frame,
crack, and pore.

The LP heaters general don't have the cold air intake feature.
