Gawd, I love this list!  Amazing the interest and personal experience that
focuses on a given problem.

Being an old tractor guy, I'd think in term of adding a couple of new skids*
aimed appropriately to the direction of travel and linked to a cross frame.
A tractor's hydraulic lift links and a chain could then raise the front for
clearance and drag that sucker up the hill.  A chain on a loader bucket
would work too; just "back" the rig up the hill.  I bet'cha know somebody
with a tractor or loader.

 *I'd prolly weld up the skid-frame out of  scrounged pipe or c-purlin to
help justify owning weld equipment.  :)
