One other thing to remember,,,because you have to heat the shutoff valve get
the solder to flow you should remove the whole valve assembly while you are
soldering. There are two reasons, A) you reduce the mass to be heated and B)
because you could melt the neoprene shutoff washer.

Of course, you could take the easy way out and use compression fittings.
