As someone already suggested, there are all sorts of hidden switches for
alarm systems.  But you're quite right, they won't handle much current.  My
suggestion would be a relay.  RS has one listed with a pair of 10 amp
contacts, 110vac coil; $10.50 including a suitable socket.  If your switch
won't handle 110vac, you'll need a bell transformer and 24vac relay, both of
which should be available at Home Despot, etc.
