Is there some prep before painting? Just cleaning, or light sanding? I'm
considering this to make my dishwasher match the rest of my new kitchen...

Lee,

Yes, check and see if you can't still get acrylic enamel in your area.
That's
easy to spray.  It may leave some orange peel.  How smooth do you want it,
and
how much work are you willing to put into it?  If it orange peels you can
wet sand and buff it out.

I don't think I'd mess with the catalized paints for that project.  Not
worth
the cost.

Also check you local auto parts store.  You should be able to get a "bug
bomb"
spray can in enamel and possibly lacquer.
