Hmm... I guess that could be useful, but it still sounds like a lot
of "stuff" to break for the benefit.
I guess my water usage habits aren't typical though. I'm on well
water, and we have no shortage of it. It's mildly acidic and
dissolves enough of my copper pipe to have a funky metallic taste to
the water, if it hasn't been run in a few hours. So a lot of the
time, I turn it on and let it run 10 - 15 seconds to purge (or get
hot), at least for drinking or cooking.
There's also no shortage of it -- the 180ft shaft tapped enough
pressure and volume that it blows clear up and overflows out the
breather tube in the pipe head. I rigged up a catch-can to divert
it into a drainage pipe and into the nearby stream. It dumps
probably 6 - 8 gallons / hr. Water is pretty good about recycling
itself, so what the heck.
