Today, I started cleaning Huxley for our trek to the wilds of BC, Canada
tomorrow and I decided to fix a problem that I have been putting off for
entirely too long.

I knew that I when I installed my Steering shaft during my restoration,
I didn't get the little lobe on the end that cancels the turn signals
centered between the actuators on the switch.

In order to solve the problem, I had to remove the Oil cooler adapter
and hoses to get to the connection to the rack. When I removed this
stuff, I found that the coupler had a bolt almost all the way out and
one of the hoses was worn almost all the way through. Apparently the
hoses were resting on the coupler and the turning motion rubbed the hose
and wore it and also wore the safety wire holding one of the bolts in.

I repaired the damage and re-mounted the hoses so that they do not
contact the coupler.

Then I went on to centering the shaft and discovered that the misaligned
shaft was responsible for my mysterious horn honking that was also
bothering me for a while. Now I have turn signals that cancel by
themselves, a horn that does not honk on its own and a steering coupler
that should work well for a lot longer.

I think they call that, "killing 4 birds with one stone".

So I'm off to British Columbia bright and early tomorrow morning.

Regards,
Joe Curry
