Congrat's on the car, I am hopefully coming to the same stage on mine
early in the next milineum.:-)

I would re-route your ignition coil supply, if it's conected to the
radio supply you have three wires coming out of your switch. 
     +---- Radio
     | +-- Ignition
     | | + Start
wire 1 2 3
click
0    0 0 0 
I    1 0 0
II   1 1 0
III  0 1 1 on some switches or maby 1 1 1 on others. 

So your coil maby being taken down to 6 v for starting, and 12 v for
normal. 
As whell as your coil is sitting on when you listen to your radio,
slowly breaking down.  It's not good to have your coil on without the
engin running.
