John,
You got the block colour right (although the black always looks a bit shiny
when the leaking valve cover provides an oily coating). <g>
As for the valve cover, my '79's was orange, sort of, but not quite, like
US Chevy engine block orange. I have an original 1979 factory brochure
that shows the orange valve cover, too.
