Generator dismantling, other questions

The generator came without a fan or woodruff key. The previous owner tipped
me off to this. I'd like to remove the shaft nut, remove the pulley, insert
the new woodruff key, slide the fan in place and reattach the pulley --
without having to remove the generator from its mounting on the engine. My
question is simple for anyone who has taken apart a generator, but a real
mystery to me.

How do I keep the shaft from turning as I try to remove the nut on the end?
I looked around for someplace to jam a screwdriver into to stabilize the
shaft, but I know that CAN'T be right. I don't want to ruin my generator.
Can anyone tell me how to remove that nut?

Also, is there any reason that I shouldn't replace the grease plug bolts on
my front wheel pivots with grease zirks? Someone installed them on the rear
wheel bearings and it was sure a lot easier to lube that way! How about the
steering rack? Any reason not to put them there?

Ah! One more quick question: My car only has one horn attached in the
front on the left side. The right side horn is missing. How do I tell
whether I need a hi or a low note to replace it?

Best wishes,

Jeff in San Diego
