I would like to add to Bills questions:

  - where do I find gauges most like the originals (I have a Spitfire
'63 Mk1, and is looking for Amp/Volt meter and Oil pressure gauge)

  - What is the best mounting place for gauges due to the opinion of the
list, not have it to "aftermarket look-a-like" ?

I'm looking to the advice of the list here. I would like to be able to
monitor the charging system on my Spit. So what is best, an amp meter or a
volt meter? Any wiring concerns with either one? Oh, I'm still using the
generator rather than an alternator if that matters.

Thanks
