You'll just get a mushier ride with a likelihood of bottoming out.  If you want 
to improve handling and adjust the height, you will want to either get
the right size and rated springs from someone like Ted S. or else cut down a 
spring to the desired height and rate.  

The latter is dicey because it is a hit or miss proposition at best.  It's like 
Forrest Gump's box of candy, "You never know what you'll get!".  But
it is a much cheaper way to go if you are on a tight budget.
