No the stand is fine, more to do with the length of the engine block.
That stand needs to be larger to deal with the stress.
I tried to rotate the engine on the stand and could not lock the pin in 
after because of the weight shift.

Right now I have the engine on the stand with the engine lift holding it 
up just in case.
