Hi Robert,

Well, I wish it were simple.  My MGTD has the same problem.  When it
idles for long periods, like in traffic, it starts to smoke out the
draft tube.   It will smoke for about a half block then teh smoke
dissappears.  I believe it is loading up the crank case and takes a
while to see the smoke.  Everyone I've explained it to says most likely
it needs rings.  I hope this helps as I'm looking at the same overhaul.
