Hi Robert,

I used a bicycle cable too.  They work in a pinch when nothing else is
open except Wally world, or K-mart.  Becareful though, I first got one
that was plastic lined inside the cover and it bit into it when the
engine compartment got a little warm.  You might not have that problem
in the cooler states.
I thought at first it was a grounding problem as this will make the
cable heat up, but my ground were fine, it was just ol fashioned 100
degree days that did it.
