 Although it must have been a BIG disappointment to many that the weather
was so 
uncooperative, that's life ! Sounds like there were attempts so save the
day at least.
I don't know what anyone could be mad about. (maybe I'm naive)
If you don't get to win a trophy at least you'll have stories of "The Great
Rain-Out of '98"
to talk about at next years event.(and plenty of time to wash and wax)
As for those who would demand tier travel expenses be reimbursed ....
These are the same ones who sue McDonalds because the top came off of their
coffee when THEY spilled it in their own lap. 
 I don't know the first thing about Field Meets or Club Policies but in a
situation like this 
I'd say "better luck next year". ..... the end.
