David,
parts for japanese cars are not as cheap as the ones for Spridgets.  To
totally rebuilt a Toyota engine and transmission would cost a small
fortune, I would think.
Since the Toyota stuff will last a long time, a better approach would be
to buy one that is technically sound for $1500 and rebuild nothing.
