Chuck: I don't know if the comparison is valid, but our Audi A4 made noises that match to the letter the ones you described, including the conditions at which they occur. Our problem was a bad wheel bearing, and it sounded like someone had switched our tires with knobby Jeep tires when we weren't looking! I hope this helps!
