All the installers have a deal like this. I'm using
ADT, which I had for a lot of yrs in Florida before
moving to Illinois. The installation was free (since
I was a returning customer), I think it is usually $99
(they advertise it's much higher value, but it's like
Craftsman tools - they are magically on sale every
week). I have to have monitoring for 3 yrs at I think
$25 /mo. I have always opted for monitoring because I
travel a lot for business, and my wife feels
comfortable with it, especially since there are
several levels of my home that are easily accessible.
The wireless deal was a few bucks extra, but is the
only way I would have trusted this particular house to
be done (hardwired was a piece of cake in the FL
house). ADT's customer service has been good. As far
as the monitoring goes, there were 2 instances in FL
where the police were dispatched, and the response was
almost instantaneous (Frank can vouch for my dog - his
bark set off glass break alarms twice). ADT did stuff
like call when they showed my backup battery was
getting low on their monitoring system. Maybe a
needless thing, but I like it.
