Maybe I'm over-simplifying here, but a 1098 is a long block and a 948 is a short
block. I have a 948cc. I think both use the mechanical fuel pump as original,
though a 1098 owner may give you more information. A 948 engine serial number
starts with 9CG, and the 1098 engine with 10CC.  D. Michael
