I looked at several LBCs and LBC-like cars before buying the Sprite
(MGBs, Datsun Roadsters, Sunbeam Alpines, various spridgets). I
bought the first one that met my wife's criteria (it was half her
money, after all):
1) It had to arrive in our driveway under its own power.
2) It had to look good across the distance between our driveway and
the street (i.e., it could not be an embarrassment to her in terms
of what the neighbors might think).
3) The price had to be low enough to allow us to pay cash.
Took 8 months of looking. In hindsight, those 3 criteria probably
saved us time and money, though.
