How true....
Over the years, at least a thousand touristas have walked past the
shop and said the same thing; ether: "I had one in college just like it
(only a different year or make or color or something...." or, "A college
buddy had one just like it, only it was:____" A nearly universal eulogy:
"electrical fire," "rolled it," "gave it away, or Wish I never sold/bought
it...."
In the many semesters spent at eight institutions of higher lernin'
(no PEN STATE / STATE PEN jokes please....) before graduating, I would be
hard pressed to say that I knew of - much less personally knew - more than
three or four college student LBC owners, and I was always in an MG club,
and either working at a BL dealership or running my own full or part time
LBC shop for all but one of those years....
Maybe there actually only 4 LBCs on campuses nationwide, owned by
professional students who transferred from campus to campus, semester after
semester, year after year, all working at Earl Scheibs. Maybe everyone who
ever went to college met the same three guys and one girl.....
