I picked up a new windshield and seals for my '71 Midget. Now I'm wondering
about installing it. Are there any web sites with a tech article on doing
this? Do you disassemble the frame? I haven't been able to find anything in
either Haynes or Bentley about this, but if it's there can someone point me
to a page number?

Also, I'm getting closer to ordering a top. I'd like to order in the next
day or so. I'm debating between a Caribou Canvas and a Prestige. I like the
look and feel of the canvas tops as opposed to vinyl. The main thing I'm
weighing in my mind right now is if I really want the zip out rear window or
not. If I do, I'll go Prestige. If not, then Caribou. Anybody have the
Prestige top with zip out windows? Do they completely remove or is it more
of a zip down window rather than zip out?

BTW, took the Midget (it needs a name) to a local British Car shop to let
them check the timing and carb settings. Funny thing is it ran really well
going down. I think the mixture is still a little on the lean side though
since I had to keep the choke out about 1/2" all the way. Push it in and it
would get a little "grumpy". Did have one little problem, though. Stopped at
a light, pushed in on the clutch, and the engine revved to around 3500 and
wouldn't come down. Kind of unnerving. Finally found somewhere to pull over
and it turned out I'd lost a throttle spring. I've had a hard time getting
the right ones. I take it there should be 2 long springs attached to the
throttle shaft arms and a short one attached to the linkage in the middle.
But the descriptions in the catalogs make it almost impossible to know which
you're getting. I ordered some from VB when I first put the carbs on and got
2 shorts and a long. Tried ordering another long from Moss, but ended up
with another short. So I just used what I had, and there was too much
tension on the short ones and I guess one of them must have snapped or
something. Anyway, I futzed with it a little and got it to behave with 2
springs and took it on to the shop. Told the fellow to fix the springs too.
He's a Brit, and his wife runs an adjoining tea shop. Hope to pick it up on
Saturday and take my wife to visit the tea shop.
