New Jersey Inspection

I went to New Jersey inspection this morning and failed. Boy was I
surprised. I failed for CO emissions. The allow 3% and I had 5.52%.
I passed for HC they allow 300 (ppm?) and I had 291. The did not
check for NOx.

The other things I failed for were (and here are the surprises):

    1. No rear window. I must have a hood on the car with a rear
window to pass in NJ. Go figure.
    2. Wrong color tail light. I have a drivers side UK spec brake
light and the brake must be red not amber.
    3. Missing inside door handle.
    4. No rubber pads on the brake and clutch pedal.

I was amazed about the missing rear window. I can't pass inspection
without a top.

Anybody have a drivers side rear tail light for a 77 Midget that they
want to sell. It must be US spec :-)

One other thing, in NJ if you fail for emissions you must take the car
to repair shop and have them fill out a NJ form then you must produce
that form and the receipts for the repairs. You are not allowed to
fix it yourself.

It was funny watching the inspectors trying to get the car on the
brake pad, the car was short. They also have a test that bounces the
wheels. They had a really hard time trying to get the car on that pad
since the car is to narrow. It took 5 time to get it aligned and it still
hung off on the inside.
