Wait a minute.
Go back 40+ years and think about engineering.
LBCs had disc brakes
The Mini, look at the rest of the world now with front wheel drive.
The VW beetle was an engineering marvel when it was introduced, same as the
Citroen. 
Technology improved and so did cars. Too bad none made today will be around in
40 years. (cheap cars that is)
Somehow I can't picture people restoring or driving 40 year old Hyundais.
