I dunno why but brake springs always seem to be a jig saw puzzle to get back
right. Only way to really be sure is only work on one side of the car at a
time so you got the other side to reference. Or allot of digital pics before
you start work. From what I remember when I did the job 2 years ago... was
that it will go together both ways, but one way seems better than the other
way. If that makes any sense. One way will make the springs rub on the hub,
and the correct way they don't rub.

Most of the manuals never show a clear picture or diagram of how they fit
together. Haynes has a great photo for my land cruiser (2 slave cylinders
per wheel, drums all around) but they reverse printed the photo and the
caption stated it was for the drivers side front but it was the passengers
side front. Not clue if they were talking about RHD or LHD markets!. That
took a few beers to figure out.

As with most jobs... when you gotta put the thing back together, you have to
try to think like the dude who designed the part. USUALLY... the most
logical way is the correct way. A pint of Guinness will help you try to get
in the head of the designer\engineer.

Good luck.

Thanks for the thought larry, I'm in Friendswood, TX (35 miles south of
Houston).

Anybody remember enough to describe which way up the spring goes, which way
around etc. The actuator has a hole in one end suitable for the spring,
close enough for the spring, but the tail is pointing the wrong way. Seems
like this shouldn't be a 'force fit' kind of deal, but I'm stumped.

If pictures would help anyone remember how this thing goes, I have a digital
camera. let me know and send your email address and I'll take some pictures
and send them direct.

Steve
