And, good example provided, as well.
I know in our state, the old 55mph Federal
limit imposed to save fuel turned into
a financial bonanza in fines levied against
"speeders" doing 60-65, even in cars getting 30+ miles to the gallon. A
threatened highway fund cut-off should
the state not do it's job in better enforcing
this Federal limit forced the state into this
"enforcement" position.
The State fortunately changed it's laws
redefining "speeding" as opposed to
"failure to obey a state traffic commission
sign", thus saving their citizens $$$ along
with "points" against their records and
increases in insurance premiums (not
to mention mandatory suspension of
driving privileges!).
Well intentioned legislation gone bad due
to unintended consequences of the same
is well said, indeed.
