The biggest ramification of driving the car
with a leaking header (exh.system) is
contamination of the air inside the cockpit
with exhaust fumes (carbon monoxide).
Assuming you are not driving around
over 4,000rpm all the time, there is little
if any chance of engine damage caused
by possible "interuptions" in normal exhaust gas flow; but do keep the
windows open!
