The blood, you forgot to mention the blood!!

Actually Chas, it might just help to draw a daigram

Yours will currently look like:

______O_____________________(actuating rod)
                                            O
When it should look like:

______O_____________O_______


If you were to rotate the right hand wheelbox on the top diagram,
around the actuating rod without disconnecting it, then the spindle
would pointdownwards, instead of upwards through the scuttle. You need
to slacken two little clamping nuts and remove the wheel box from the
flexible spiral drive rod, rotate it 180 degrees and reconnect.

You will find out about the blood bit if you are doing this with it
all still behind the dashboard.
