Don't think you can have your cake and eat it.
Don't know what the big deal is with this bonnet mod.
I agree I think you really need a bumper if you are ever going to park your 
street bugeye. I don't think the fear that the idiot in the soccer wagon is 
going to crush your bonnet is a good trade off for the front tilting bonnet. 
(OK you guys are going to say the bumpers aren't going to do much anyway)  
Assuming you have rebuilt your engine etc. and are only going under the hood 
to tweak the carbs and change the oil, not such a big deal to grovel around 
under the orginal rear tilting bonnet.
I got one bugeye with and one without a bumper. The car with the modified 
bonnet has really tacky looking exterior mounted rubber latches. Look like 
they came out ot the Coleman catalog.  

The one with a bumper is going to back on the road soon. Haven't figured out 
what I am going to do with the other one. That is going to be a while anyway.
