ok-ok-ok! the end cap for the rack's pinion can be overtightened and warped
very easily! so that means that it no longer evenly compresses the silly
paper thin shims. sooooo, the ends where the bolt holes are get compressed
but da middles do not! soo if you use some type of non hardening sealer
like permatex #2 of if yer feeling lucky and do not want to have to ever
clean it up to reshim it sillycone it ! a tiny thin bit on each side of
each shim! a little dab will do ya! (no not yabba-dabba-doo! that's
freddy flinstone AKA. goggles pizano!) then resecure the end cap. after
tightening the cap, take a shop rag with either some brakleen or choke spray
on it and give it a quick wipe around the outside edges of the shims to
clean up the mess you just made of the job compressing the sealer goo out
from between the shims!
yo! wa-la! no more leakus-maximus!
now go out and play nice with the other kids!
