I have been using paint thinner. About the same price as hitest gas 
these days. $2 a gallon.
Cheap, easy on the hands, works well, doesn't stink. And it turns your 
parts washer into a paint brush cleaner too!
I change my thinners twice a year when it starts to look dark coming out 
of the nozzle.
