Hello Adrian,
i just did a little research for you.. .... FMVSS (federal
motor vehicle safety standard) 208, 209, and 210 are the
applicable ones in your case... .. to make a long story short,
after 1973 you must have THREE POINT SEATBELTS. otherwise you
can get that "click it or ticket" thing. ...they can't make you
retrofit, but you gotta have what they say. sorry.
