Yes, the Capri was a FWD car. This car has much, much more in common 
with the 323 of the day than the Miata. The motor is a relative of the 
323GTX motor, though much tamer. It's true that the Mazda B6 motor found 
its way to the Miata as well, but that's about the limit of the common 
hardware.

Umm, it's FWD? Unless she needs that back seat for something (!), I'd 
recommend getting a real Miata. :)
