I have seen replacement hardware for fitting door locks that does away with 
the clips and uses what looks to be an o-ring, a washer, a U shaped washer 
and two short screw studs. Has anyone used this hardware? If so, does it 
all tuck away inside the door or are some parts on the exterior side of the 
door? It looks like a good system (especially considering the shape my 
clips are in) but a bit pricey for what it consists of.
