Ok, so we pulled the head. The gasket is and was correct.
Water flows thru all the head holes.
Water flows thru all the block holes.
All the holes line up.
We replaced the head with a known good one from a Sprite and replaced
the water pump with a new one. The old one had 500 miles on it.
The fan is on correct, replaced the temp sender with a known good one.
Radiator is new.
5 minutes of running brings the temp to max and the oil pressure to min.
My son is ready to blow up the Mini, he may have already done that as I
heard him leave but never heard it shift.
There is nothing wrong but nothing is right.
What else is there to cause a hot running engine?
We played with the timing from retarded to where it barely ran to
advanced to where it kicked back when starting. No diff.
Carb is fine but we richened it up and leaned it out to max both ways
with no diff.
The radiator is at 160*, t/stat is 160, engine is at 500* or where ever
engine enamel blisters. All this in just a few minutes of running.
Does anybody have the bottom 1/2 of a 1275 sidewinder engine hanging
around they want to sell cheap?
