Correction: Muriatic acid is a low (about 31%) concentration of
HYDROCHLORIC acid, or HCl. "Con HCl" is a chemical widely used in
industry, but which is highly dangerous. Muriatic acid is only a little
less dangerous, but can used used effectively if given respect and
handled properly (it is widely used in swimming pools). Rubber gloves
and a respirator are well advised if you don't want your skin eaten away
and your lungs wiped out. Unless you want your driveway eaten away,
you will have to dilute the muriatic acid, beginning with a ration of
one part acid added to 20 parts water, and then flood the area when
finished. NEVER store muriatic acid inside a home or garage, for even a
"tightly sealed" cap will allow gas to escape and cause everthing to
rust! (Yes, ask me.)
