Thanks for all your replies. The drums are shiny new, the shoes are new. Tha
adjuster screws are new. All from PPP. The wedges, I think, are old, but
aren't beat up.

PPP - have you ever seen different length wedges for different LBCs? The
ones
that were in there are simply too short. The bottom shoe edges go into the
slots in the adjuster box just fine. The screws screw in just fine.

WST - you wouldn't have noticed anything weird during assembly - everthing
looks great. It's just that the wedges are obviously too short for the
adjuster box that they go into.They aren't long enough to protrude into the
middle where they could make contact with the screw.
