Another thing to remember about ethanol is that it burns leaner than
gasoline.  While a modern EFI engine can compensate with O2 sensor
trim, older carb cars can't.  Leaner can result in higher combustion
temps, and detonation if your ignition timing is too far advanced.
The iron heads on older cars are an issue, as are any sort of
air-cooled engine on a lawn mower or motorcycle or such.  They are not
as good at getting rid of the excess heat as an aluminum head.
