I had the same problem, plus the seal I bought was way too stiff. Ended up not
using it and buying a universal fit weather strip that was flat on the bottom
with double stick tape and had a hollow foam 1/2 circle on top.

Subject: [Spridgets] BE Bonnet seal

I just bought a bonnet seal from Sports & Classics for Chips (the'58)and
installed it in the cowl channel last night with the V-groove upwards. When I
close the bonnet, it's WAY too tall (~3/8" above the cowl). I remember someone
had this issue last year, so I thought that I'd ask the pertinent questions-1)
Did I install this wrong? and 2) How much needs to come off the backside of
the seal to fit correctly?
