A few? years ago I was looking for the same thing for my Vee. What I found was
"Nutserts". They're made specifically for thin metal. You drill a hole, load
the nutsert into the tool put it the hole and tighten. The lip on the nut gets
pressed and formed to grip the edge of the hole. With a serrated edge, it
becomes "spinless". Similar to Pem Nuts. I think I got the whole kit at
Menard's or Ace. I only used 8 and 10-32 sizes, but larger are available.
