Brad,

Great idea. Might I propose that one controvert the script on the side of
the Tiger......simply have molds made for fender script that says: "Alger".

Just a thought.......

Subject: Alger identification

I recently considered building a race Tiger from an Alpine body and dead
Tiger, but was put off with the dilemma of creating a fake Tiger whose
history would someday be distorted. This combined with the chatter about
such things as TAC stickers, tags, rivets, clips, doors and deck lids gave
me my first idea in history.

If I built an Alger I would want some way to "mark" the car in a standard,
permanent, and definitive way. A "mark" that would clear my conscious and
tell the world that when it comes to the value of my car; THIS IS AN ALPINE
CONVERSION! If we made the means of "marking" the cars available at no
charge through the clubs at least we could have people build Algers and not
feel bad about it - or wonder if it will someday be passed off as a Tiger.

Other Pluses;
* We could begin the long term process of giving buyers something to
look for first when buying.
* We would officialize the practice of conversion as a separate but
interesting group of altered Rootes cars.
* I would venture to say that if the plaque indicated who the
conversion was done by, it may spark a business in (quality) conversions and
a boom for our parts suppliers.
* All of this would be good for a real Tiger's value as interest in
the Mark leads to interest in Tigers.

There is a lot of dead Tigers, Ford parts, Apine bodies, conversion &
improvement knowledge and people who like fast small cars. Lets get them
all together and have more fun and interest in Tigers.

- I think it worked for the Cobras?

How could we "mark" them?
1. 8X10 ID plate welded to the top of the firewall.
2. A refrigerator magnet for side of fender.
3. Knock out one head light.
4. Make Pink the mandatory color.
5. Make stock wheels the only allowable type for a conversion.

Obviously looking for suggestions.
