Arnie:
I have 2 kinds of tank sending units: one with a metal float
(probably from Mk1/Alpine 3&4, and one with a plastic float (from
later cars?). I've pulled a few of the plastic senders over the years
that had leaked and filled with gas, probably leading to or
contributing to inaccurate readings. The other reason for the
inaccuracy may be electrical - a resistance problem in the sender -
as someone else suggested.
I'm not anxious to spend a lot of time testing all of the units I have,
but will stand behind anything I sell. If it doesn't work, I'll replace it
or refund your $.
