Had a '66 Mustang convertible, and there is no way it weighed only 300 lb. more
than a Tiger, Unless you meant 300 pounds on each wheel.  Watch out for
'advertised' numbers, dry weight, curb weight, 'as tested' weight, etc.

The spring 'rate' is pounds per inch of compression, not load capacity.  The
unsprung weight, vehicle weight, are important factors, assuming you are talking
about those spring rates on springs specifically sized for a Tiger.  There are
even variable spring rates available that give you a softer ride under low
compression, and stiffer up the rate of getting stiffer under greater 
compression
distance.
