Eric
According to my Small Block Ford Engine book, Ford introduced the
aluminum cam gear with nylon in March of 1965 to all of the small block
engines. Your 260 should not have the alum/nylon gear, it would be a solid
cast iron or cast steel gear. I also believe that nylon timing gear was
only a Ford part. I don't think any of the aftermarket companies made this
type of nylon gear, so if an engine was ever rebuilt a solid metal gear
should have been the replacement.

Help!
This Spring my trusty old 1975 Bronco with 150,000 miles on it's 302 stopped
dead because of stripped nylon timing gears. Several bent valves, much work
and $$$ later the Bronco is fine. This leads to my question....
my 1965 Tiger has 120,000 miles on the original, never opened up 260. Did
Ford use nylon timing gears on the Tiger engines and is this a grenade with
the pin half-way out waiting to explode?!
thanks for your help
Eric
