Dave,

Hey, that is one great reply about why the bottom was chromed - rust
protection. The only thing on the Tiger that is! NOW I can say - "if
those diagonal braces weren't chromed, they could rust through (in
California (8->) and the fenders would collapse.

SCCA safety requirement, like roll bars!

About your new stick. If you didn't trim it to match the length and
markings of the original, it is reading wrong.

About your tube. Would you believe that your chrome plater can dip only
the end of the tube in the chrome tanks, with the anode/cathode
connections reversed, and un-plate the chrome on the part that fits in
the block without damaging the rest!!! Ain't science wonderful?
