I also need to protest a tad. The distributor is completely electrical and
indeed the electrical compnent performed flawlessly! The elctrical part
simply provides a close encounter through which the spark can jump to each
cylinder's leads. The coil contact is purely mechanical with a carbon tip
touching the coil connection at the rotor. If you still have points, then
they are mechanical simply interrupting the coil charging circuit to provide
dwell in charging the coil. This problem had absolutely nothing to do with
the original premise of being asociated with the starter change out. Nor of
it being electrical. This was a simple (as stated) MECHANICAL problem. All
parts performed exactly as they were designed to do. No fault in any system.
I want my money back!
