Erich,

Thanks ever so much for taking the trouble to check this point of contention
out. I think your analysis is spot on; so, everyone take a pencil and cross
out "B" and write in "A" on page 28 of Monroe.

Bob,
My heads are C4OE-A casting codes are 4M23 and 5C4.
I decode these as Dec 23 1964 and March 4 1965
They used 1.67 intake valves and the combustion chamber shape matches the
260 head pictured on page 36 of Monroes book.

Looking at the table on page 28 of said book, it seems like a typo in the
260 head section could have occured. The C4OE-A (not B) would be the third
260 head listed.

This leaves the C4OE-B casting as a HIPO 289 head with integral spring cups.
I like this scenario because I don't like seeing the same casting number
(C4OE-B) used on two different applications where there is a known
difference in the casting (the spring cup)

Erich
