All,
Just a question on the solid mounts and high HP. I seem to be getting a
small buckle developing just ahead of the left front corner of the trunk lid
and I suspect it is from the defacing of public property that I am guilty
of. Has anyone else seen any weird deflection of the body right beside the
trunk hinge on the drivers side (US CARS FOR YOU ENGLISH DUDES) it would be
outboard of the hinge with it bulging up a little. My car is not very rusty
but the stroker motor might be causing a little extra "Stress". It is
possible that I just did not notice it before.

Best Regards,

Henry, Tim,

My thoughts on this are that the steady-state torque on the chassis is the
same and symmetric, whether you use solid or soft mounts, but the momentary
torque will be much higher (e.g., when you shift gears) with solid mounts. I
agree with Tim that a through-bolt or equivalent to limit extension of both
motor mounts is the best solution. Anything you can do to stiffen the
chassis is still a good idea, with or without solid mounts.
